Pat Dedal, Gobo Box
bio
Starting her career in the film industry as a negative cutter, Pat eventually made her way to become a producer. On the way, she’s been a creative director’s assistant, an aspiring illustrator and a graphic designer. She’s even managed an offset print shop. She’s dressed film sets, typed post production scripts, production assisted, production coordinated and production managed live action and all mediums of animated tvc’s.
While freelancing as a production manager on a live action combined with animation project at Flying Colors Animation in 1993, the MD appointed Pat as producer. In 1994, she was appointed Company Officer. She produced traditional 2d animation, set up the digital animation arm with silicon graphics workstations and Prisms (now Houdini), and produced 2d cg and 3D animated tv commercials, station ID’s and tv show openers. She took Flying Colors to Asia and won the Fanta campaign for the Asia/Pacific region and the Mama Sustagen campaign for China (2d tvc and packaging design).
With Pat’s passion for animation well established, she moved on to freelance at Flying Gherkin as Nick Donkin’s producer. Together, they made numerous stop motion animated spots for Yogo, “Doppleganger” 5min cinema commercial for Reebok for European release, the first 3 Schmackos ads, some Arnotts Shapes ads... and many more.
She founded Gobo Box in 1998 through which she produced an interactive game for IP Australia (cd-rom and online) and some tv commercials for Uncle Toby's AO Bars, Claratyne, Advantage Air, Sun Creations and Arnotts Shapes. Pat was also commissioned to develop/write the first animation budget for the Australian Film Commission to cover all animation media.
Pat joined Collider in December 2006 to freelance as post production producer on Joel Pront’s tvc for US department store, JC Penny. A beautiful spot and the beginning of my many beautiful spots with Collider. Continuing to freelance, she has since produced all their animation/vfx content and most of the post porudction projects until May 2011. She’s worked alongside Collider's directors: Daniel Askill, Joel Pront, Andrew van der Westhuyzen, Clemens Habicht, Tim Richardson, Lorin Askill and Don Cameron on their tv commercials, short films, music videos and art films for both domestic and international markets.
Calm under pressure, Pat is progressive, hands-on and known to be technically & creatively savvy.
